I have just returned to the UK after 10 months in Ghana. I only came back because you are only allowed to stay there for this amount of time at one go.
“My netball coaching project was great fun. Having spent so much time in Ghana it gave me the chance to really bond with the netball girls and see them develop throughout my time there. Just bringing in some fresh ideas and equipment makes a huge difference to this relatively undeveloped sport in Ghana, so I feel that I have been able to contribute to netball as well as making some really strong friendships out of it.
I also used my time to work in a children’s care centre with a lovely guy called Billa. He has dedicated his life to looking after kids from broken homes or children who cannot get an education. Just spending time with the kids and showing them some love was such a rewarding and easy thing to do and made me fall in love with Ghana and it’s people even more.
Being back in the UK, I realise just how much I miss Ghana and have decided to make it my home. I’m back in the UK to get a job and save some money to go back to sweet Ghana. I plan to be back in Ghana by the summer. It is great to see my family now, but my heart lies in Ghana.”
