Want to become a sports coach in Cambodia and introduce new activities that promote a healthy lifestyle to local school students? This programme is for you. You will coach children between the ages of 10-13 in order to help them develop their social, physical and mental skills. The children will learn valuable team building skills and a sense of discipline, that will assist them greatly throughout their entire lifetime.

To book an activity with us we require you to participate for a minimum of two weeks. Therefore, you would need to book a quantity of two for this activity, unless you choose a separate activity to go with it. See the ‘Related trips…’ section for more options.
Sports Coaching in Cambodia
During this programme, you will teach the children team sport, mainly football in a local school located 20-25 minutes away from the accommodation by bike. You will be teaching children from the local football team, so a love for football, accompanied with some football knowledge and/or experience, and team management skills will be needed!
The coaching sessions should be both technical and practical. Your coordinator will share ideas, but you are expected to bring a go-to attitude and lead your group with drills, ideas and fitness exercises. Keep in mind that equipment may be limited and not exactly what you may be used to, so you may need to be resourceful and creative!
With this program, we are aiming to broaden the social and athletic skills that these children have through participation in sport activities. These new skills and lessons will foster the development important life skills.
Criminal Records Check
We require you to complete a criminal records check in order to take part in this experience. We can accept those that have been done in the last two years if you have the certificate. In the UK it can be done through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), in the USA further details can be found on Travel.State.Gov, otherwise please search for your local service provider. We may also request a reference from a reliable source. You must supply these to us before departure and also take a copy with you to present to the in-country team.

Start dates are every week of the year with your activities starting on a Monday. Saturday or Sunday between 06:00 – 22:00 to be met upon landing by our team. Flight arrivals after 22:00 will incur an additional fee for pickup. Saturday arrivals need to book one extra night at our accommodation, so arriving on the Sunday will be your better option.
Your trip will finish on the Saturday morning when you will need to vacate the accommodation.

Schedule
Monday to Friday
You can expect to work 6 hours per day. You will coach students in two 3 hour sessions, one in the morning and the other in the afternoon. The morning session runs from 08:00 – 11:00 and the afternoon session from 14:00 – 16:00. You will have a lunch break in between sessions.
Location
Siem Reap is one of the 25 provinces/capital cities of Cambodia. It is located in the Northern part of the country. Similarly, Siem Reap is hailed as the main tourist destination and attraction of Cambodia because of its historic and famous Angkor Wat, which is acclaimed as one of the seven (7) wonders of the world and other attractive ancient temples.
In addition, with its awe- inspiring temples, colorful cafes and placid waterways, Siem Reap is a jewel of Southeast Asia. Moreover, the city is considered as a cheerful city that embraces travelers like old friends.
Meanwhile, you will be located in the outskirts of Siem Reap, which will allow you to get a taste of a more rural side of Cambodia while at the same time being able to head to the city that acts as the gateway to the Angkor world with its Colonial architecture, museums, markets, nightlife and some of the most famous attractions Cambodia has to offer.
About the Accommodation
he accommodation is based in a typical Cambodian-style guesthouse. There are several common areas, including the living room and two terraces outside. Additionally, our accommodation is the traditional wooden house with shared rooms that are single gendered which is shared by four persons per room.
Similarly, the accommodation will be comfortable with fans, clean, with bunk beds, with adequate shared bathroom, cold shower and flushing shared toilet facilities including running water, lockers in each room and a lockable room. You can also enjoy and savour your tea and coffee with our relaxing dining area.

Food Arrangements
Prepare your palate! During your stay the meals will be typical Cambodian style, which includes plenty of rice and noodle dishes. On a few occasions there may be meat, but generally speaking there is no western food served. Vegetarian options are available..
Facilities
There are ATMs in Siem Reap, as well as a bank. There are numerous local shops where you can get all the basics you might need during your stay. Depending on the location of your accommodation, these may be accessible within a 10 – 15 minute bike ride or walk.
Mandatory Orientation Day
On the Monday of your first week at this location, you will join our orientation day, to familiarize you with the surroundings as well as local culture. Your program will continue as usual from Tuesday onward throughout the rest of the week.
Schedule
- Introduction meeting, House rules, Setting Expectations, Health and Safety Advice and handling of documents.
- Khmer Do’s and Don’ts, Khmer Culture Lessons and Khmer Language Lessons.
- Tour around the compound and local area; where to find local shops, and arrange a sim-card if necessary.

- Introduction to the Project, Project site and start participating on the project.

Sights & Surroundings
Everything in Siem Reap is within a 10 minute bike ride away. Moreover, Angkor Wat and its adjacent temples are only a 20 minute ride away.
Phare Circus, the number one non-temple attraction in Siem Reap is located within walking distance from the house. The circus showcases juggling, acrobatics, aerial arts, theater and dance performances!
Though Angkor Wat may be Siem Reap’s main draw, there’s enough to see and do in Siem Reap to have some amazing experiences. There are many other places that you can visit during your spare time or on the weekends such as Floating village, Circus, handicrafts places, silk farm, war museum, Kulen mountain with waterfalls, night markets, pub streets and many more. You can also immerse yourself with the local culture and savor its typical local dishes.

Pre-requisites
No prior experience or qualifications are required, but an interest in sports coaching/teaching, community projects, and a desire to help others is required. It is important that you can speak English. All participants require a CRB check to take part in the project activities.
