The University of Birmingham has a proven history of nurturing both athletes and sports industry professionals to achieve their true potential. Alumni include:

Phil Pask – British physiotherapist and former rugby union player. Pask played rugby union for Northampton Saints, making 150 appearances for the team. He became the Saints’ fitness trainer and then physiotherapist. In this role, he contributed to their win in the 2000 Heineken Cup Final. Pask has been the England national rugby union team’s senior physiotherapist since 1997.

Chrissie Wellington OBE – English former professional triathlete and four-time Ironman Triathlon World Champion. She holds, or held, all three world and championship records relating to ironman-distance triathlon races: firstly, the overall world record, secondly, the Ironman World Championship course record, and thirdly, the official world record for all Ironman-branded triathlon races over the full Ironman distance.

Pamela Relph MBE – British adaptive rower who won gold medals at the 2012 and 2016 Summer Paralympics, thus becoming the first double gold medallist in Paralympic rowing.
