Enjoy the full Indonesian experience with no hassle and a touch of class… We offer trips from 2-6 weeks where you will improve your surfing with professional tuition in the most perfect waves in the World, complimented by surf specific training sessions, video analysis and theory.

On our six week and four week trips, you will surf and experience three different islands. You will learn more about surfing and push yourself more in this time, than you would in years by yourself. Expect an island experience like no other, combining three totally different islands and types of waves into one amazing trip.

We also offer a two week trip where you’ll explore Bali, travelling up the West Coast from Canggu to Medewi, where the crowds get thinner and the waves longer. 500m rides can be expected here.

BALI – Canggu

As well as being one of the most vibrant provinces of Indonesia, Bali is home to some spectacular surfing possibilities and some of the world’s most beautiful beaches. Here we’ll help you master the basics and feel comfortable in the water. For those with surfing experience, you will be pushed by your instructor at the various appropriate waves to suit your ability. During your surfing down time, we’ll take a hike up one of Bali’s live volcanoes, visit the ancient temples and go white water rafting. Bali is one of the most active stops on our itinerary, so be ready for an action packed introduction to Indonesia!

Waves:

  • Canggu Beach – located 10km to the west of Denpasar Town, the beach itself is beautiful with its famous black sand created by the surrounding volcanic area. There are 4 main breaks at Canggu – on small days in the waist to head high range there are waves to suit everyone. Once the waves reach the head high range, the right hander at the river mouth turns on and can really pack some punch. Likewise with the Sandbarand the left hand reef break right in front of the Warungs.
  • Kuta Beach – The centre of Bali Tourism, it has a beautiful panoramic view of the coastline. The beach provides waves for both beginners and experts alike with some of the world’s most beautiful sunsets.
  • Uluwatu – a well-known tourist destination because of the famous Temple that sits above the cliff and home to arguably one of the best waves in the World. The peak is immediately in front of you as you paddle out through the cave to be greeted by the classic racetrack wave. The wave has four different sections and the steps down to the beach from the top of the hill is a unique experience for any surfer.
  • Padang Padang – known as the Balinese Pipeline. It’s a very fast barrelling wave that lives up to its reputation as the most serious wave in Bali. Similar to Hawaii’s very own Pipeline, the Bali Pipeline breaks over a shallow coral reef and is only for expert surfers. If the conditions align, we may visit this spot as spectators!

LOMBOK

A short flight from mainland Bali will bring you to the beautiful island of Lombok. We stay in a sleepy fishing village called Gerupuk.

Waves:

  • Gerupuk – There are several different spots accessible from Gerupuk beach, which all favour different winds and swell directions meaning there is always a good wave around. There will be a boat waiting in front of our bungalows ready to take us surfing to Outsides, Insides, Don Dons and a few other fun reefs. On the high tide the waves in Gerupuk are perfect for beginners, with their mechanical nature encouraging rapid progress.
  • Kuta & Segar – Kuta is a nice small beach located a short drive from our accommodation at Gerupuk. There are a variety of waves here both right and left, but we usually stick to the waves of Gerupuk.
  • Desert Point – Voted as the best wave in the world by Aussie Tracks Magazine, Desert Point is a truly perfect wave if the swell delivers. Very long, hollow and almost always ends in a huge left hand barrel. It can produce rides from 150m – 300m long – we will only go here if we get the right swell and it is suitable to your ability!

NUSA LEMBONGAN

After a week in Lombok, you will ride a short ferry to the neighbouring island, Nusa Lembongan.  The ultimate small island paradise. Located off the southeast coast of the main island of Bali, it’s a world away from the hassle and hectic pace of southern Bali. It takes only a couple of hours to walk all the way around the island and it boasts not only fantastic surfing spots but also incredible snorkelling locations. This is where we will embark on a snorkelling trip to hopefully spot manta rays, as well as lots of other beautiful wildlife.

Waves:

  • Playgrounds – The easiest surf spot to get to, which means it can get a little crowded. It is a fun and easy A-frame peak, but can get shallow on the low tide!
  • Lacerations – A world-class wave on it’s day and located a bit further out past Playgrounds. Lacerations is a bowling right that is accessible by paddling past playgrounds and through the boat channel. Despite the fierce name this is actually where we will be doing a lot of our lessons as it turns into a really perfect right reef break on the high tide and is ideal for pushing your surfing to new heights.
  • Shipwrecks – Shipwrecks is a good right reef much further out and straight in front of where we stay. It is a fantastic wave that holds bigger swell well and packs some power. We will do a lot of our surfing here as it is a very consistent wave and handles the tides well.

BALI- Canggu, Medewi and Balian

Following your stay in Nusa Lembongan, you’ll get another short ferry back to the island of Bali. You will check back into the accommodation in Canggu and enjoy some of the surf spots around there, before hitting the road and heading out west, on the road trip part of your adventure, ending up in Medewi.

So when it comes to surfing it is all day, every day. Medewi is a small town with not too many surfers about, being over two hours drive from the more popular areas near to Kuta. Get ready to settle into a relaxed way of life, which involves surfing, eating, napping, surfing, sleeping, massages and a little exploring of the local area. Medewi is one of the few proper pointbreaks in Indonesia, breaking over cobblestone and reef. This point goes on forever, and has a great combination of steeper sections as well as slower flatter sections for those surfers with less experience.

Waves:

  • Balian Rivermouth – Balian handles massive swell and breaks in a perfect peak offering a long, really long left hander or a fast, more sucky right hander into the rivermouth.
  • Medewi Point – Medewi point is a long left that throws up a mix ofsections from hollow fast sections to nice slow walls to practice yourcutback. It handles almost any size swell too, from small to big, and you can choose from three different take-off spots for the waves you want.
  • Medewi Rights – A fun right-hander breaking into the river mouth just around the corner from the left. Whilst it is a faster wave than the right it is still very manageable and handles small to medium size swell well! Expect nice long rights into the channel here without many people around – bonus!
  • Beach break – Further to the north there are various peaks we will look at or surf depending on the conditions.

How good do I need to be?

There are loads of different types of waves to suit everyone’s needs, so don’t fret!

The six and four week trips are suited to both beginners as well as surfers who have some experience and want to take their surfing to the next level. How many people will be on the trip?

This of course varies a little from trip to trip, but we cap the group at 10 people with 2 trip leaders/surf coaches. This helps to prevent us crowding surf spots and for everyone to receive quality coaching.

What is the average age on the trip?

This also varies from trip to trip, as we have a few people who are on their gap years, as well as various people in their 20s, 30s and above. We tend to have a broad range of people from varying nationalities, who share the same passion for travel and surfing.

Will I need a visa? How do I get it?

Yes you do. Indonesian immigration issues a holiday visa on arrival to most countries. You’ll need to get a 30 day visa which are free upon arrival. If you are staying longer (i.e. the 6-week trip) then we recommend that you apply for an extended visa beforehand at home. Otherwise you can purchase the extended visa in Bali for around £80. You will then have to jump through hoops for a while. If you don’t arrange this in advance, our team will help organise this on the ground once in Indonesia.

Do I need to worry about malaria?

The islands we travel to are low to no risk areas of Indonesia. However, we recommend checking the latest government advice on Fit For Travel and consulting your GP before you leave.

Can I drink tap water there?

No, we recommend drinking bottled water only.
